Surprise, double engagement!

After many months of sneaking around, I can finally share with you all the newly engaged Jax Claridge & Kayleigh Leech-Higginson!
Unbeknown to Jax, Kayleigh got in touch with me to tell me she wanted to propose at their family photoshoot session at Dovestones, and a few months later Jax contacted me to tell me, she wanted to propose too!

Here are the results! Thank you so much to Visualise Wedding Videography– for tagging along, pretending to be my “work experience” and no doubt creating a beautiful video of this surprise, double, engagement!

Congratulations to Kayleigh and Jax, thank you for asking me to capture this for you, and stressing me out just a bit! I’m so happy for you both and the squishy Miss Willow!!

Toys ‘R’ Us

Today I took my son Roux, nearly 3, to Toys ‘R’ Us for his first – and last – experience there.

Admittedly we’ve never been into any of the stores with Roux. I’ve ordered online but this was his first time being there, and for a sad reason as the stores are all closing down soon!

I took the opportunity to take some photos of his first time seeing ALL OF THE TOYSSS! The photos aren’t the best – honestly – he’s nearly 3 and doesn’t stay still, pose or smile for more than 0.1 seconds at a time so I just did what I could!

Hope you’ll enjoy these photos regardless, and be reminded of YOUR first trip to Toys ‘R’ Us.  How sad that we’re never going to see the adverts at Christmas time again!

Exciting things to come

Hello all and a belated happy new year to you all!

I’m just writing a little note to all my clients past and present to let you know of all the exciting things coming in 2018!

First off, after the amazing success of the Hallowe’en and Christmas mini sessions last year, I’m excited to announce I’ll be launching a mini session for each holiday in 2018, well in advance of the event so you will have your photos in time! Kicking this off will be the Valentines Minis, which I’m shooting the adverts for tomorrow with some beautiful little models!

Secondly, and already implemented is I have now started to have clients come back to the studio 7-10 days after their session to view the photos. This is for a variety of reasons. First of all, I had noticed a very high percentage of my clients were viewing their proofs on mobile phones or tablets – small screens which don’t show off your photos to their best extent! In the studio I now have a 30″ calibrated HD monitor on which to show your photos on. Second, it’s much quicker – all photos viewed at your viewing session are fully edited, and any digital images you purchase or have included in your session you take home on a disc with you the very same day – meaning the wait time for digital files is cut drastically. Prints and canvas turnaround time remains at around 2 weeks. I’m so excited that this has been implemented, showing off your photos from your session with you  in person is the best experience for me personally, and for you all as clients!

A few more exciting things that are coming up – I’ve been shortlisted as Young Business Person of the Year! I will find out the outcome of this in February at the awards ceremony – it’s an honour to get even this far! I’ve also bagged myself a coveted place as one of the Digital Dozen, a new team at Ashton Old Baths. This means that I have a fantastic desk space at my usage in Ashton centre, with some other fantastic business owners – I will also hold a few client meetings there over the next six months.

In 2018 I am also planning on doing a lot more outdoor sessions, I’ve already sold out of the four dates I posted for January & February, and more will be coming up. If you’re in my VIP Clients Only Facebook group (which you should be if you aren’t!) you’ll may have also seen that I am doing a collection of fairytale sessions this year – these are mostly model calls – including some Disney inspired sessions, plus more to be announced. If you’re interested in volunteering your little one to model for one of these sessions, please contact me.

On a final – and boring! – note, all sessions from 2017 will be archived at the end of January. This doesn’t mean they will be deleted – I never delete client images – however there will be a cost to take them out of archive should you wish to view your full gallery again from last year.

Looking forward to seeing you all in 2018

Amelia

My home!

I’ve recently started to advertise some lifestyle sessions in my clients homes! Well the best way to showcase this would be in my home, right? There started the carnage of trying to get two cats, a dog and a two year old to keep still for more than thirty seconds. Sure, we’re doing natural portraits guys, but at least help me along a little! Out of all of them….Tiberius (the black evil cat) was the worst. See the first photo below of him a) hiding behind the baby gate so I couldn’t photograph him and b) posing with the air of superiority that only a spoilt cat can! At least my human baby cooperated, for once!

Up Close & Personal: Corset Piercing

Warning: Do not continue to read if you are put off by piercings or body modification!

Here’s an interesting blog post….

Normal Thursday morning, in Oldham. Sam, the piercer at MisFits Body Piercing at In The Skin Oldham had an interesting request….

Can you come and photograph me doing a full corset piercing from start to finish?

So….I did.

For those who don’t know – “A corset piercing is a body piercing that is pierced multiple times mostly side to side to look like a corset being laced up the body.”

Sam’s er….willing model, Machaela seemed to really enjoy herself :)

All piercings in…

Then jewellery…

Lots of new swear words were learnt by all :)

Some cleaning up and re positioning – I’m not sure if Machaela actually fell asleep here.

Complete! Photos to be used for Sam’s new business cards and the studios website & Facebook page, the piercing was taken out after – this was purely for the photos! Crazy people, maybe…can’t say it’s the strangest thing I’ve ever done.

First (of many; hopefully – few; literally) blog posts

Amelia Rose Photography began in 2013

In the past four years I have gone from travelling to people’s homes to do photoshoots on the weekends after work to now having my own shop in Tameside.

I’m hoping to start updating my blog as much as possible – at least twice a week (not twice every two years like I usually do) with some images from the week’s sessions and anything else interesting that has happened.
